Advancing A Vision for Peace and Cooperation

Bahrain plays a pivotal role in America’s strategic and security interests in the Middle East as the home to the entire U.S. Navy Fifth Fleet and Bahrainis stand beside Americans in key diplomatic initiatives. Through our sustained efforts, we are working to educate youth, prevent extremism in the first place, and build a foundation for peace in the region and the world.

Enhancing Maritime Security in the Arabian Gulf

Bahrain supports US efforts to protect Arabian Gulf shipping corridors as a partner of the U.S.-led Operation Sentinel, a naval coalition operating out of Bahrain. Our shared goal is to escort vessels and protect shipping in the Arabian Gulf and through one of the world’s most important transit corridors, The Strait of Hormuz. Together we can protect freedom of navigation and the free flow of maritime commerce and improve the detection of threats.

Building Exchange & Dialogue Among Gulf Nations

Bahrain is committed to cooperating with other countries to achieve peace and build a brighter more prosperous world. Each year, the annual Manama Dialogue, named after our capital city, brings together policymakers from the Middle East and beyond to tackle the region’s most pressing challenges and strengthen economic and diplomatic bridges. The conference is jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS.)

United Against ISIS Terrorism

Alongside the United States, Bahrain is a member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, also called the Global Coalition Against Daesh. As a coalition of 82 countries, members share a common vision of dismantling ISIS networks, disrupting the groups financing infrastructure, countering the group’s propaganda, and rebuilding communities that have been liberated from ISIS.

–Ambassador Abdullah bin Rashed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Ambassador to the United States

Bahrain was the first Gulf country to acquire the American-made F-16 fighter jet for its Royal Bahraini Airforce. The jet is made by the hard-working employees of Lockheed Martin in Greenville, South Carolina and F-16 production has created many jobs in the U.S. state.

Partnering To Educate and Prevent Extremism

Since 2011, the Kingdom of Bahrain and D.A.R.E. International have worked together to create curricula to give Bahrain’s young people the knowledge and skills they need to avoid addiction, violence, and being persuaded by extremism. The effort is part of Bahrain’s efforts to provide more support to change the traditional concept of security to involve community members in the security process.
